Home WiFi and networking

UniFi access points wired back to a small rack, with separate networks for family, guests and smart-home devices, planned from a survey of the house. The survey is free, and the quote is in writing before anything is ordered.

Coverage

A single router struggles with a larger house, thick walls or an outbuilding. We walk the house with you, find where the signal falls short, and plan access points for the rooms you use rather than from a template.

What we install

  • UniFi access points mounted flush to the ceiling or wall
  • Each access point on its own cable back to the rack, not relaying over WiFi like a mesh kit
  • A UniFi gateway between your network and the internet
  • Separate networks for family, guests and smart-home devices
  • Equipment in a rack in a utility area or closet

Cabling

Cable routes are planned to keep the installation tidy, with every cable and port labeled for whoever works on it next. Wired access points are what keep coverage steady across the house.

Where in-wall or ceiling work needs a license or permit, we only do it where we're licensed, and the permit is arranged as part of the job.

Scope

  • Site survey and a placement plan for your house
  • Equipment supplied by us, itemized on the quote and yours to keep
  • Installation and configuration
  • A walkthrough of what's where and how to change the WiFi password
  • A written record of the layout, addresses and settings
  • Optional monitoring and support on a monthly care agreement, quoted with the install

Recent work

The last whole-home job was a new build: four UniFi access points, two UniFi switches, and a buried cable out to an outbuilding, written up with the layout and addresses before we left.

Pricing

A free survey first, then a written quote for the equipment, installation and configuration. Whole-home coverage is typically two to four access points. Nothing is ordered until you approve it. Rates are on the pricing page.
