Managed backup ยท Columbus, Ohio

Backup you can prove works.

Workstations and servers backed up, copied off-site, watched by automated alerts, and verified every month. A backup nobody has restored from is a theory, not a backup.

What an untested backup is worth

Most small businesses we meet have backup software installed somewhere. What they don't have is anyone who would notice if it stopped running, and nobody has ever restored a file from it.

Backups fail quietly. A drive fills up. A credential expires. Someone reorganizes a file share and the job keeps backing up a folder that no longer holds the data. The software still reports success, because it is succeeding at the job it was given. Nobody finds out until the day it matters.

The value of a backup is entirely in the restore. Everything on this page exists to make the restore something you've already seen work.

Scope of the service

  • Workstation backup, so a failed laptop is a machine problem and not a data problem
  • Server backup, including full image backups where you need the machine back rather than just the files
  • A local copy for fast restores, because pulling a large restore back over your internet connection takes as long as it takes
  • An off-site copy, so a fire, a flood, or a theft doesn't take the backup with the office
  • Retention set to how far back you'd realistically need to go, agreed with you rather than left at a default
  • Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace data, which the vendors do not back up for you in the way most people assume. See cloud and productivity

Alerts, and a person who reads them

Every job reports in. Failures and missed runs raise automated alerts that come to us, not to an inbox in your office that nobody has time to check. When one fires, we look at it and fix it, and you hear from us about anything that needed a decision.

Once a month we verify: that the jobs ran, that the data being backed up is still the data that matters, that off-site copies completed, and that retention is where we agreed. You get that in writing, so the state of your backups is something you can point at rather than something you assume.

Tested, not assumed

We test restores as part of the arrangement. Files pulled back and opened, and for servers, a restore taken far enough to show the image is usable. It's the one part of a backup system a green checkmark can't fake.

Testing also tells you how long it takes to get back, which is the one thing you actually need to know before an outage. That number drives real decisions about how much backup infrastructure is worth buying. We'd rather you learn it on a quiet Tuesday than during a failure.

Day-to-day restore requests, like a deleted file or a mailbox item, come through the same channel as everything else. See business tech support.

What it costs

  • Monitored backup runs on a monthly arrangement. We quote it in writing once we know your device count, data volume, and how far back you need to keep it
  • We quote setup, and any migration from an existing backup system, as a fixed project before we start
  • On-demand work outside a monthly arrangement has a two-hour minimum, $170. It covers the call-out, diagnosis, and up to two hours of work, then $85 per hour beyond that
  • Rush and after-hours work adds a flat $85

If you're on our Full Service plan, we fold backup into the same monthly arrangement and quote it with the rest. See full pricing.
