A diagnostic first to find what has failed, then the price of the fix in writing before anything is opened or ordered. If the machine isn't worth repairing, we say so.
Faults we see
- Machines that have slowed over the years, usually a dying drive, a full drive, too much startup software or a fan choked with dust
- Laptops that won't boot, stop at a logo, or loop into repair
- Windows or macOS updates that failed halfway and left the machine unusable
- Failing drives, bad memory, dead batteries, charging ports, screens, keyboards and fans
- Overheating and shutdowns under load
- Machines that work but are full of things you didn't install, covered on virus and malware removal
How it works
The diagnostic covers testing the machine and working out what has failed, which is often not what the symptom suggests. A laptop that won't charge is sometimes a battery and sometimes a board fault. Those are very different bills.
Once we know, you get the cost of the repair in writing before we open anything or order a part. If you decide not to go ahead, you've paid for the diagnostic and you know what's wrong with the machine.
We copy your data before touching a failing drive wherever the drive still lets us. If the drive is already in trouble, see backup and file recovery for what we can and can't get back.
Repair or replace
A repair is worth doing when the machine has years left and the fix costs less than a replacement. A seven-year-old laptop with a failing drive, a swollen battery and an operating system that no longer gets updates is not that machine. We say so, and we don't charge you to find out twice.

Where the work happens
Software faults, failed updates and slow machines are usually handled remotely, with you watching the screen. Anything that needs hands on the hardware, we come to you in Jefferson City and Cole County.
For bench work such as a drive swap or a thorough clean, we collect the machine, do the work and bring it back set up the way you had it. You'll know which of the three we're proposing before you agree to anything.
Recent work
A homeowner had been told the files on a fifteen-year-old network drive were gone. We copied the drives, recovered the files from the copy, rebuilt the network drive, and now service the computers in that house on a schedule, each visit starting from the written note of the last. A diagnostic first, then a written quote for the fix. Nothing starts until you approve it. Rates are on the pricing page.
Parts are quoted with the repair, so the written number is the number. If it isn't worth fixing, we say so and the diagnostic is all you spend.
