Managed IT
One named person looks after your computers, printers, network and backups for a monthly fee, for firms of four to thirty people. A written agreement sets out the devices, services, support hours and monthly charge.
The monthly service
The monthly service for a firm of four to thirty people normally includes:
- Monitoring and patching on tools we host, so faults are spotted early and updates are applied
- Remote help for your staff, by phone and screen share, in the support hours your agreement sets
- Backup to a system we run, with an automated restore test every week and a failure flagged to us the same day
- Windows security settings enforced and checked, and multi-factor sign-in where your accounts allow it
- Software updates and license renewals tracked, so nothing lapses
- Your printers looked after: set up on the network, faults fixed where the machine is worth it, a replacement quoted where it is not, and genuine HP toner ordered for you. Toner and printers are billed separately, like all hardware
- On-site work when it needs hands, and one named person who knows your setup
Projects, new hardware and out-of-hours emergencies are quoted separately, in writing, before they start. The start month is agreed in the proposal.
Cyber-insurance renewals ask about multi-factor sign-in, endpoint protection and tested backups. In half an hour, remotely, we compare the questionnaire with what is in place and send a one-page list of what passes and what does not. Free, and no visit needed. Book the check.
What we run it on
- A UniFi or Cisco network
- HP printers and genuine HP toner
- Lenovo workstations
- Desk phones on a phone system we host
- Monitoring and remote support tools we host ourselves
- Backup to a system we run, with a weekly restore test
- A password vault set up in your name
- A written record of devices, network, backups and passwords for every site. It is yours if you ever leave
An architecture practice of seven people runs on this today: monitoring on every workstation, an office server with snapshots staff restore themselves, off-site backup with a weekly restore test, a password vault, and a UniFi network we cabled and installed.
What can be included
- Help for staff using the devices and applications covered by your agreement
- Monitoring and scheduled updates for agreed systems
- Account onboarding and access changes following your process
- Backup monitoring and recovery checks, where included
- Equipment planning and purchasing, itemized on the quote and yours to keep
We agree which of these you need before quoting. The proposal identifies covered systems, included work, support hours, response targets and exclusions.
Pricing
The monthly charge covers the recurring work listed in your agreement. Hardware, software licenses, subscriptions, call usage, major projects and work outside that scope are quoted separately, in writing, before they start. Hourly rates are on the pricing page.
You can add managed backup, business phones or an office server and files to the same agreement. Each service keeps its own scope and any recurring cost.
For occasional help, use hourly business support. You do not need a managed IT contract to buy licenses or renewals or HP toner.
Steps
- Free project assessment. We discuss your requirements and review the setup needed to prepare a proposal. Investigation of an existing fault is a paid diagnostic.
- Written proposal. Covered systems, recurring tasks, support hours and response targets, monthly charge, and any separate onboarding work.
- Onboarding. We document the setup and carry out the changes you approved.
- Ongoing care. Scheduled work, reporting and support under the agreement. Changes to the scope are agreed with you.
